Chief Executive Officer
Mark A. Gomez, CEO of Gomez Law, APC, and a dedicated advocate for real estate rights. Beginning his career with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Mark has a long history of advocacy, with a proven record of reversing foreclosures and recovering millions for clients. A prominent industry voice, he has a published appellate ruling, and frequently speaks at professional events, most recently presenting on law firm growth hosted by the Los Angeles County Bar Association in 2026. As both an attorney and an active real estate investor, Mark combines his legal acumen with personal experience to protect the property rights of families and individuals. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, and rooting for his favorite LA sports teams.

Susan Murphy
Senior Trial Attorney
Susan Murphy, a Senior Associate with 25 years of legal experience, specializes in real property litigation. She previously served as lead counsel at Advocate Legal, focusing on Wrongful Foreclosure and Quiet Title cases, before joining Gomez Law, APC to work alongside founder Mark Gomez in their shared commitment to helping homeowners protect their property. In her free time, Susan enjoys creative writing and hiking in Runyon Canyon with her Yorkie, Mojo.

James Hornbuckle
Senior Trial Attorney
James D. Hornbuckle is an accomplished attorney, USC graduate, and Magna Cum Laude law school alumnus. His legal career began in business and franchise litigation before founding his own practice, where he has successfully guided thousands through bankruptcy, resolved disputes, and achieved favorable settlements. Beyond law, Mr. Hornbuckle serves as a pastor and certified yoga instructor, embodying a diverse and holistic approach to life and law.

Charles G. Gomez
Senior Trial Attorney
Charles G. Gomez is a senior trial attorney with 19 years of experience, specializing in real estate litigation, transactions, malpractice, and employment disputes. He transitioned from running his own practice to joining Gomez Law, APC, and has a background in eminent domain, inverse condemnation, and construction defect law. Charles is also recognized for his advocacy work, having supervised a free legal clinic for veterans for 12 years. His notable achievements include being lead counsel in the federal case Ruvalcaba v. Ocwen and authoring an article on attorney ethics for the “California Lawyer” journal. His career reflects a strong commitment to both legal excellence and community service.

Steven L. Boortz

Steven Boortz brings over three decades of formidable legal experience to the real estate, family, and business litigation practices. He transitions from a distinguished 32-year career running his own successful independent practice, where he provided comprehensive advocacy across civil litigation, tax law, civil rights, and entertainment law. A skilled strategist in the courtroom, Steven specializes in resolving high-stakes real estate controversies, including landlord-tenant issues and transactional difficulties, alongside all facets of complex family law disputes and asset divisions. He earned his Juris Doctor from Washington University, laying the rigorous academic foundation that shapes his deeply knowledgeable and versatile approach to trial defense. Steven combines his multi-disciplinary expertise and decades of tactical experience to protect the vital property and legal rights of families, individuals, and business owners alike.

Ronni Vogelsang
Trial Attorney
Ronni Vogelsang is a trial attorney, focusing on business transactions, real estate and probate litigation, and estate planning. Prior to Gomez Law APC, Ronni concentrated on probate litigation, business transactions, and served in a general counsel role for a federally chartered banking institution where she advised on regulatory compliance and negotiated complex financial agreements.
Ronni earned her Juris Doctor from the University of La Verne College of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of both the Law Review and the Journal of Law, Business and Ethics, and her Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Management from The King’s College in New York City. Throughout her career, Ronni has advocated for victims and pursued justice on their behalf, first as a Deputy District Attorney trying numerous criminal cases, and now for persons, estates, and beneficiaries harmed by fraud and misconduct. Her published Law Review article advanced this work, proposing legislative reforms to help law enforcement and prosecutors more effectively combat the online sex trafficking of minors.

Senior Associate Attorney
Hailey Gallo is an attorney who handles various litigation matters such as real estate, family law, and probate litigation. Prior to Gomez Law APC, Hailey practiced family law where she represented high net worth individuals and assisted clients with complex property disputes, high valued asset divisions, and child and spousal support litigation. Hailey earned her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School. Hailey is a zealous advocate for animal rights and welfare. In her free time, Hailey enjoys cycling and hiking with her dogs, Pixie and Ellie, throughout Los Angeles County

Robert Gonzalez
Associate Attorney
Robert Gonzalez has recently graduated from J.D. at Southwestern Law School, where he is served as a Lead Article Editor for the Southwestern International Law Journal and a Teaching Assistant for Prof. Michael Dorff. With a strong foundation in legal scholarship and an impressive academic record, Robert brings a detailed approach to his work that Gomez Law, APC delivers every day. Prior to attending Southwestern, Robert earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Florida State University. Outside the office, Robert enjoys music, board games, and baking.

Miriham Antonio
Associate Attorney
Originally from San Diego, California, Miriham Antonio grew up in Koreatown, Los Angeles. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Irvine School of Law on May 2025. Prior to law school, she graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Southern California (USC) with double majors in Philosophy and Law, History, and Culture. During law school, Miriham externed for the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Honorable Philip S. Gutierrez of the U.S. District Court. Her prior experience also includes work in criminal defense and civil rights. Miriham is fluent in Spanish and intermediate in French, having studied it in high school and in college while studying abroad in Paris, France.
In her free time, Miriham enjoys watching new films, creative writing, and spending time with friends and family. She is also actively involved in mentoring first-generation college students and aspiring law students.

Albert Bagdasarian
Associate Attorney
Albert Bagdasarian is a dually licensed attorney and certified public accountant (CPA). Albert handles various litigation matters in real estate such as partitions, quiet title, and real estate fraud. and drafting wills & trusts as part of Estate Planning. Prior to joining Gomez Law APC, Albert worked in the public and private sector. In the public sector, Albert worked for the Tax Counsel’s office at the IRS litigating various types of cases in Tax Court. In the private sector, Albert worked at various law firms specializing in real estate, landlord-tenant evictions, estate planning, and tax-related matters. Albert earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. In his free time, Albert enjoys hiking, skiing, and car racing.

Michelle Nilsson
Michelle Nilsson is an attorney focusing on real estate litigation, probate litigation, and estate planning. She brings background experience in immigration, family, and tenant-landlord law, as well as extensive experience in urban planning and economics, having worked with public and private sector clients throughout California. Michelle earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School and a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from UCLA.
Michelle holds a mediation certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and has extensive nonprofit experience, having founded, worked in, and served on the boards of multiple Los Angeles-based nonprofit organizations. She is motivated by a genuine desire to help people navigate some of life’s most challenging moments and approaches every client with empathy and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Outside the office, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and rescue pets, traveling, curling up with a good book, and walking the beach.

Beatriz Reyes
Office Manager
Beatriz, boasting over a decade of experience in a leading LA bankruptcy firm, exhibits unwavering dedication, often extending her working hours as needed. As the office manager at Gomez Law, APC, her proficiency in Bankruptcy Chapters 7 and 13, coupled with superior communication skills, ensures smooth operations. Beatriz is fluent in Spanish and enjoys cooking, family time, and reading in her leisure hours.

Siham is a Los Angeles native and earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. She sought a career in legal recruitment due to her passion for interpersonal connection and respect for the legal industry. In her free time, Siham enjoys indoor cycling and listening to podcasts.

Guadalupe Marin
Paralegal
Beginning as a Legal Assistant in 2015, Guadalupe amassed experience in foreclosure litigation and immigration law while continually broadening her paralegal expertise. She’s now pursuing an English and Paralegal Studies bachelor’s degree at Cal State Los Angeles. As a mom of two, she enjoys family time, camping, and off-roading. Guadalupe holds an A.A. in English from East Los Angeles College.

Susana Perez

Inspired by her husband’s law school journey, Susana embarked on a legal career. With five years as an immigration legal assistant and experience in family law and real estate marketing, her focus is on building client relationships. Outside of work, she officiates weddings and enjoys family time, cooking, gardening, and hiking. She holds an A.A. from Cerritos College in Marketing.

Karina Velazquez holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a focus on American Law from the University of California, Irvine, and a paralegal certificate from the University of California, Los Angeles. With over three years of experience as an administrative assistant and a background as a law clerk at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office in the Van Nuys Criminal Court, Karina possesses a wealth of legal knowledge, organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Outside the office, Karina enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, and creative pursuits like painting and crafting.

Jacqueline Centeno

Jacqueline earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Smith College and a master’s degree in International Relations and Political Science from the Geneva Graduate Institute. Before joining the firm, she worked in the legal field as a legal assistant in family and immigration law and later as a paralegal at an employment law firm. Outside of work, she likes to spend time with her family and cats, and enjoys any outdoor activities.

Hugo Maida

Hugo is a Los Angeles native, born and raised in Hollywood and currently living in Koreatown. A proud graduate of Loyola Marymount University, he went on to earn his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, where he broadened his legal perspective through study abroad programs in China and France and by competing in National Baseball Arbitration competitions. His professional experience centers on Chapter 11 corporate bankruptcy, with a background in clerking, paralegal work, legal support, and case management for leading claims and noticing agencies. Passionate about sports and live music, he also enjoys golfing, hiking, biking, traveling, collecting vintage vinyl, and watching documentaries. Now expanding into real estate law, he is eager to leverage his diverse skills and experience to help grow the firm.

Hannah Bobroff

Hannah Bobroff earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and her Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Prior to joining the firm, Hannah gained experience through multiple legal internships focused on real estate law, where she developed strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Her background enables her to bring a meticulous, thoughtful, and client-focused approach to her work. Outside of the office, Hannah enjoys reading fiction and non-fiction books and exploring new stories and ideas.

Melanie Hawley

Melanie Hawley recently earned her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Loyola Marymount University. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in Philosophy. Before attending law school, Melanie worked at a law firm specializing in contract dispute litigation, where she gained valuable experience in civil litigation and legal analysis. During law school, she further developed her legal and tax expertise through an internship with the Internal Revenue Service. Melanie possesses a strong foundation in litigation, tax law, and legal research. She is committed to providing thoughtful, detail-oriented representation and helping clients navigate complex legal issues. Outside of the office, Melanie enjoys exploring new restaurants throughout Los Angeles and discovering the city’s diverse culinary scene.

Ya Bin Lee

Currently pursuing her Juris Doctor at the University of Colorado Law School, Yabin supports the firm’s real estate practice by working closely with clients and attorneys throughout the legal process. Fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, she helps ensure clients from diverse backgrounds feel informed, understood, and supported. Having lived in China, Guatemala, and the United States, Yabin brings a multicultural perspective to her work and understands that every client’s circumstances are unique. She is dedicated to providing responsive communication and practical support to clients throughout their matters.

Jacob Sigler

Jacob Sigler is a Summer Law Clerk at Gomez Law APC, where he assists with legal research, case summaries, document review, and trial preparation across real estate litigation and probate matters. Known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail, Jacob helps organize complex case facts to move client matters forward efficiently.
Currently a rising 3L at Southwestern Law School, Jacob serves as a Dean’s Fellow mentoring first-year students and has worked as both a Teaching and Research Assistant. His academic excellence includes receiving the highest grade in Family Law and having his legal scholarship selected for publication in the Southwestern Journal of International Law.
Jacob’s diverse legal background includes clerkships at a plaintiff-side landlord-tenant firm and a personal injury firm, as well as a judicial externship with the Honorable Annette J. Berry of the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan. Prior to law school, he earned his real estate license and graduated with High Distinction from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
As a first-generation law student, Jacob brings a dedicated, client-focused mindset to the firm. Outside of the office, he enjoys working out and spending time with his family and his dog.

Arlette Valeska Artola
Legal Assistant
Arlette Valeska Artola is a bilingual legal professional with experience supporting attorneys in litigation, case management, document preparation, calendaring, and client communications.
Prior to joining the firm, Arlette worked at an employment law firm, where she assisted with discovery, case management, and client support throughout various stages of litigation. She earned her Law Degree from the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-León) and completed the English for Professional Development Program at Keiser University Nicaragua.
Outside of work, Arlette enjoys practicing yoga, exploring new places, and dancing salsa.

Hope is dedicated to providing compassionate client support and guiding individuals through the initial stages of the legal process with professionalism and care. With more than two decades of legal, nonprofit leadership, and advocacy experience, Hope brings a unique combination of legal knowledge, client-centered communication, and operational expertise to the firm. She previously held leadership roles with organizations including Human Options, CASA Los Angeles, and the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (UACDL), where she managed large-scale legal advocacy programs, supervised multidisciplinary teams, and worked closely with survivors, families, and underserved communities.
Hope earned her Juris Doctor from Western State University College of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from California State University, Fullerton. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her commitment to public service, social justice and equity, as well as empowering vulnerable populations through education, advocacy, and access to legal resources.
In addition to her professional work, Hope has served as a trainer, public speaker, and community advocate on issues involving domestic violence prevention, child advocacy, and social justice and equity. Outside of work, Hope enjoys skiing, volunteering, and continued involvement in advocacy and educational initiatives.

Axel Josue Rocha Tapia

Axel Rocha holds a Diploma in Management and Leadership in Human Talent Management and Financial Analysis. He is currently pursuing a degree in Administration, Business, and International Relations at American University College (UAC). Originally from Nicaragua, Axel’s career has been defined by a deep passion for organization, law, and business from an early age. In his spare time, Axel enjoys working out, cooking, and on Sundays, the fresh air on his mountain farm with his cows.

Leveraging four years of professional experience, including three years at Citi Bank and serving as a Customer Service Supervisor at Amazon, Jose is a passionate advocate for helping others achieve their goals. This commitment to service was initially cultivated during two years of volunteer work in Costa Rica for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and continues to drive his career. Outside of work, Jose find his greatest joy and balance through music—specifically singing and playing the piano—and dedicating time to his wife and two children.

Michael is committed to strengthening his expertise in legal billing, using tools like Clio to ensure precise invoicing and efficient billing workflows. Michael is also passionate about nature, often spending time alone by rivers, and is a keen problem-solver who enjoys finding the root of things to improve procedures.
